October the 24th, 2026 – Good news for lovers of festive cheer as capped prices will be introduced for certain food and drink items sold at Pula Advent this year.
The City of Pula has decided to limit the prices of the most popular products at Advent stalls in order to make them more affordable. A city decision has set maximum amounts for part of the hospitality offer during the upcoming Advent. Index reports that rather unsurprisingly, this decision has been welcomed by all.
a new (capped) price list for pula advent
Under the new rules, the price of a hot dog, hamburger and bakalar (dried cod) will be limited to five euros. Mulled wine, hot chocolate and cocoa may cost a maximum of three euros, while the maximum price for tea and water will be two euros. The sweet offer, which includes fritule (fritters), pancakes and Christmas cookies, is also limited to three euros per portion. Deputy Mayor of Pula Siniša Gordić explained how the system will work. “It is about one product that caterers must have on offer, as stated in the public call. For the entire rest of the offer, if they want to have something additional, they can set the prices themselves if there is interest,” Gordić said. He added that a minimum quantity or portion has also been defined for the products with limited prices.
Danijel Britvić, who has been taking part in Pula Advent for years, considers the idea good, but warns that the quality of ingredients affects the final price. “Hot dogs are 80-gram items, an ordinary frankfurter that I already had for five euros in a large bun. We have a 100-gram sausage and it cannot cost five euros, but six or seven. I will have the same prices as last year, but I will also include a hot dog at the set price in the offer,” Britvić said.
What is new in Pula has already been a proven model in Poreč. There, part of the offer has been sold at limited prices for years, which has proven to be a successful practice. “We’ve adjusted those prices over the years according to market conditions, but always so that they remain within a framework that allows each of us to go out with friends to Advent, treat everyone to a drink and eat something, without it being too great a financial burden and so that they come back again,” said Ajna Temimović from the City of Poreč.
The first test of the new decision by the Pula city administration will be visible soon, as the public call for the lease of Advent stalls ends at the end of October.
