A teacher at Tunku Putra-HELP International School in Kuching, Sarawak, was injured earlier today, 21 October, when she tried to intervene in a penknife attack involving a 16-year-old student
The incident occurred in the school's TK4 area on 21 October, according to a statement issued by the school on its Facebook page.
The teacher was taken to hospital for treatment after the school contacted ambulance services. No other injuries were reported.
The school said the student was immediately restrained and taken to the principal's office, where the boy remained under supervision pending further action.
The student's parents were also notified, while police arrived at the school and took over the case.
During a search of the student's bag, police found an item requiring further examination. The authorities are handling the matter.

As a precautionary measure, the school closed its premises early on Wednesday following police advice to facilitate investigations
Parents and guardians were asked to check their emails for details about early dismissal and further updates.
Those unable to collect their children immediately were advised to contact the school to make arrangements.
Meanwhile, images and videos allegedly linked to the incident have been circulating on social media.
The public has been urged not to speculate, spread unverified information, or draw conclusions based on the footage.
Further updates are expected from Kuching police to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The incident comes amid a series of serious cases involving violence and murders at Malaysian schools in recent months
On 3 October, 16-year-old Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal was found dead in a school hall at SMK Dato' Seth in Yong Peng, Johor. A 16-year-old male schoolmate was subsequently charged with her murder.
In July, a 15-year-old student allegedly stabbed a schoolmate at a secondary school in Banting, Selangor, leaving the victim injured and requiring hospital treatment.
These incidents follow the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Yap Shing Xuen at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, in October 2025. A schoolmate was charged in connection with her death but was acquitted after the court found him to have been legally insane at the time. The prosecution has since appealed against the acquittal.
Separately, the death of a 14-year-old student at a school hostel in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, in September 2026 prompted the Education Ministry to order an immediate audit of the school amid bullying allegations. Police detained another student to assist with investigations.
The cases have renewed concerns over student safety and serious violence in schools, although the circumstances and alleged motives differ in each incident.
