MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. Russia’s state arms exporter Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation) will showcase for the first time its latest air defense system designed to protect the population, troops, and facilities from drones, called the Anti-Drone Dome, the company’s press service reported.
The Anti-Drone Dome is designed to shield the civilian population, as well as strategic and infrastructure facilities, bridges, buildings, fuel and energy complex enterprises, and troop deployment sites from unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks. "Options are also available for protecting convoys and vehicles transporting VIPs or sensitive cargo," the press service stated. It said that the project will be presented at the third Russia-Africa Summit, which will be held at Moscow’s Gostiny Dvor fairground on October 28-29.
The project was developed by specialists from Rosoboronexport in collaboration with leading Russian manufacturers of counter-UAV systems and representatives of specialized law enforcement agencies. It draws on practical experience in countering UAVs gained during military and counterterrorism operations in recent years.
"Protecting critical infrastructure from unmanned aerial vehicles has today become the cornerstone of national and economic security, as well as the foundation for further technological development. The proper design and implementation of such a system makes a significant contribution to demonstrating the effectiveness of government and business operations, maintaining supply chains, and signaling to investors that their investments are secure. Rosoboronexport offers the implementation of reliable site-specific protection against UAVs, tailored to each specific partner and facility. All the equipment and solutions used in this system have proven their effectiveness in real conditions," said Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev, quoted by the press service.
It added that the project is a multi-layered system comprising airspace reconnaissance capabilities, firepower capabilities, and electronic countermeasures against UAVs, a geoinformation system based on an automated control system, as well as engineering (physical) protection measures.
Concept and solutions
The company said that during the third Russia-Africa Summit, Rosoboronexport will present the concept itself to its partners, along with solutions designed for the development of the Anti-Drone Dome. These include physical UAV destruction systems such as the Pantsir-SMD-E air defense missile system and the Pantsir-S1M air defense missile and gun system developed by the High Precision Systems Holding Company, the Verba man-portable air defense system (MANPADS) and the TKB-1167 air defense system, as well as the Citadel anti-aircraft artillery system with programmable-detonation ammunition, developed by Rostec.
The company is also showcasing the Silok, Repellent-Patrol, Sky-Hunter 4PC, and Radescan (in its anti-drone version) systems for detecting and electronically jamming the control and navigation channels of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Anti-Drone Dome is a comprehensive system whose configuration and functionality are adapted to a specific customer, taking into account the characteristics of the protected facility.
All of its components are developed and manufactured at facilities in Russia.
