Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has donated 25 Toyota Hilux vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force in the state as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and sustain the fight against crime.
The governor said the donation was the first batch of about 100 vehicles planned for security agencies across the state, adding that other agencies would receive their allocations in subsequent phases.
AbdulRazaq presented the vehicles to the state police command at a brief ceremony held at Ahmadu Bello House in Ilorin on Monday.
He commended the police and other security agencies for their efforts in improving security, saying the state had recorded significant progress in recent months.
“You know the yeoman’s jobs the security agencies have been doing to improve the security of the state. We have made serious progress in recent months. And to sustain the work they have been doing, we have decided to provide mobility vehicles for the police force,” he said.

The governor added that the intervention was being implemented in phases, with other security agencies expected to benefit soon.
“Altogether, we are giving about 100 vehicles. This is the first set of vehicles to be delivered. Others will come soon. We trust they will use them judiciously,” he said.
AbdulRazaq described Kwara as one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states, based on independent assessments, and thanked security personnel for their service.
He also urged residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could help prevent crime and improve intelligence gathering.

“My message to Kwarans is to always tell the security agencies anything they see. Active intelligence gathering is the most important thing to nip things in the bud and make sure they don’t degenerate,” the governor said.
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Adekimi Ojo, described the donation as another intervention by the state government to strengthen police operations.
He noted that the government had also been paying special allowances to officers deployed on special duties, adding that the support had helped ease operational challenges.
“This particular gesture will assist in bridging some gaps that we currently have, especially in hard-to-reach places. So, we thank the governor for this great job,” Ojo said.
The police commissioner assured the state government that the vehicles would be put to good use.
He acknowledged improvements in the state’s security situation but said the police would intensify their efforts to achieve greater success in tackling crime.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by Mashood Abdulrafiu Agboola, Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, in Ilorin.
