Michigan football has added a wide receiver to its class of 2027.
The Wolverines flipped three-star Yuto Kawamura-Johnson, a rising senior pass catcher out of Winter Garden, Florida (West Orange), from Toledo according to his social media. Michigan offered him a scholarship on Monday, Oct. 19, and he committed a day later, per his recruiting profile.
Kawamura-Johnson was born in New Orleans but raised much of his life in Japan, where he played for the Japan U15 and 17 flag football team. He moved back to Florida in 2025 and enrolled at West Orange. As a junior last fall, he had 50 catches for 766 yards (15.3 yards per catch) and 10 touchdowns. He also ran 11 times for 95 yards (7.9) and three scores across 12 games.
Kawamura-Johnson is more of an under-the-radar prospect, rated the No. 201 player in Florida, No. 239 among wide receivers and No. 1,861 for all players in the class of 2027, per 247Sports composite rankings. He's the second wide receiver in the class to commit to U-M and wide receivers coach Micah Simon, joining top-100 four-star Quentin Burrell out of Chicago.
Michigan has the country's No. 12-rated class of 2027 and is the second-best in the Big Ten, behind only Ohio State.
