A typical 53-man roster will undergo a plethora of changes during the course of a regular season. Guys get called up from the practice squad, sent back down, and can be released at any time. Oftentimes, this is because players get hurt, then ultimately return to 100% and regain their roster spot. The Vikings have a player coming back this Sunday, so a roster cut was needed.
With the return of running back Jordan Mason, Minnesota has released Deejay Dallas. Pro Football Talk reported the news on Friday.
Dallas joined the practice squad in early September and would appear in five games. In those five games, Dallas was used sparingly, totaling just seven touches for 44 yards.
With all the rumors about the Vikings' interest in Jonathan Taylor, it will be interesting to see how Kevin O'Connell uses his running backs this week. Could we see a scenario where Aaron Jones Sr. still sees the majority of the touches to preserve Mason for next week, should Taylor join the roster?
