Kajiado - Opposition ranks are rallying early ahead of the 2027 general election, with Kiharu Member of Parliament and People's Party leader Ndindi Nyoro promising an aggressive campaign strategy designed to overwhelm President William Ruto at the ballot.

Speaking in Rongai, Kajiado county on Sunday, October 25, Nyoro told supporters that the opposition was committed to outworking the ruling side on the ground, regardless of whether all opposition factions eventually unite behind a single candidate.
"Even if we don't unite and vie all of us, Ruto will still go home but only after having lunch at State House. We have decided that as the opposition, if Ruto holds one political rally, us we shall hold ten rallies. This is to ensure we defeat him in 2027," Nyoro said.
The lawmaker used the platform to lay out a policy agenda he said would define the opposition's pitch to voters. He placed particular emphasis on free basic education, which he said would be rolled out from January 2028, alongside commitments to improve healthcare access, grow the economy and create employment opportunities for Kenyans.
The Rongai event drew a notable crowd of political figures. Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, who has been increasingly visible at opposition gatherings, was in attendance.
Also present were National Assembly members Anthony Kibagendi and Obadiah Barongo, as well as Paul Kibathi, the People's Party's Kajiado North parliamentary aspirant, among other leaders.
The rally signals that opposition mobilisation is gaining momentum well ahead of the election cycle, with the People's Party appearing eager to establish both a geographic footprint and a policy-driven message as it seeks to build its national profile.
