Kyle tries to keep his little brother from being “cringe” as the viral trend sweeps South America.
South Park’s 29th season hits its halfway point this week, with the Comedy Central animated comedy drifting further from the political satire that defined the last two seasons and, once again, centering the plot on events in the renamed Colorado town — which, thanks to President Trump, has seen a name change to South America.
The logline for “You Like That On Your Face,” released ahead of tonight’s episode, reads: “When aura battles take over South America, Kyle tries to help his little brother not be cringe.”
Aura battles are a viral public performance trend in which teens and young adults face off in public places, typically on city streets, to test who has the most charisma, swagger and nonverbal confidence. Participants trade exaggerated gestures, movements and poses, and the crowd’s reaction decides the winner. There are no judges and no scorecards. Whoever looks the smoothest, projects the most confidence or seems the least fazed typically wins.
The craze overtaking South Park may echo season 28’s famous “6, 7” episode, which introduced that youth trend to a generation of adults. If you have nieces or nephews, or just want to know what’s been going on in fifth grade classrooms across the country lately, this one is a can’t-miss.
New episodes of the Emmy-winning series air every other Wednesday at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central this season. Episodes stream on Paramount+ and are available on demand through your TV provider after the premiere.
South Park won its sixth Emmy for outstanding animated program earlier this year, along with several other awards for its 2025 run of 10 episodes.
