By Zoila Palma: Minister of Foreign Affairs Francis Fonseca told 7news that Belize is grateful for the statement issued by the U.S. State Department condemning China’s attempt to coerce Belize.
“We’re grateful for the statement put out by the U.S. State Department, you know, condemning this attempt to coerce Belize into taking a position in terms of our own foreign policy. So we certainly welcome that statement,” Fonseca said.
In addition, Minister Fonseca said that Belize is also engaged with partners in the Caribbean Community and SICA.
“We are also engaged with our friends and partners in CARICOM, in SICA, the OAS-we’re, you know, briefing them on what has taken place. And we’re looking forward to… to their support as well,” he added.
