Nick Bolton reacts to securing an all-time Chiefs record vs. Chargers | Chiefs Wire
“I knew going into the Colts game. I missed a couple of tackles and didn’t deserve it then,” Bolton said, “but it’s pretty cool being in the echelon with those guys. A lot of linebackers came before me who laid the groundwork, and being part of history with them is a special moment for me.”
Bolton recorded 11 tackles (three solo) in Sunday’s victory. With 10+ tackles, Bolton reached his 26th 10+ tackle game, the most in franchise history. He recently passed Chiefs Hall of Famer Derrick Johnson for the team’s all-time mark.
Asked about his potential status for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks, Reid was hesitant to overpromise. The team will continue to ramp up Simmons’ workload and see how he responds as he returns from injury.
“Josh (Simmons) is still probably going to be ramping up as we go,” Reid said. “Rashee (Rice), we’ll have to see. I haven’t seen Rashee today, but he’s been here every day, and he’ll be coming in here in a minute. So, we’ll see where he’s at.”
The Chiefs moved to 3-0 in the AFC West this season.
Kansas City is now 3-0 vs. the AFC West through just six weeks, joining the San Francisco 49ers (3 wins) for the most victories against divisional opponents for any team so far this season.
The Chiefs own a 39-12 record vs. the AFC West since 2018, which marks the best record for any team against their own division in that span.
A 5-0 record now secured through the first six weeks of the year, Kansas City will aim to stay perfect this upcoming weekend with a prime-time showdown against the Seattle Seahawks on deck.
Dieter posted on X early Monday to praise the tight end’s toughness, penning, “Kelce is a dawg! They don’t make em like him anymore. Anyone else would be milking that ankle injury.”
Kelce hurt his ankle on a screen pass during the opening drive. He had it taped on the sideline. He got medical tape put on his ankle, went back into the game and later returned to the sideline to get more tape wrapped around it. Former NFL team doctor David Chao wrote on X, “By video, mild right high eversion ankle sprain. Possible to tape and return.”
The Chiefs Have a Harrison Butker Problem, Whether They Care to Admit It or Not | Sports Illustrated
Instead, the club is paying Butker more on a per-year basis ($6.4 million) than all but three kickers in NFL history to provide negative value. Doing so while denying that is even worse.
The three-time Super Bowl champion is now several years removed from his last legitimately good effort. In 2023, he drilled 94.3% of field goals and didn’t miss an extra point. In 35 regular-season outings since then, though, those respective accuracy marks are 84.2% and 91.4%. Last year saw the former seventh-round pick finish just 1.2% above the league average on field goals and 7.3% worse on PATs.

Terry McLaurin leaves in cart, ruled out of Commanders-49ers game with knee injury | The Athletic
McLaurin went down away from the play, in front of the team’s bench and without contact, after a Commanders’ third-and-long that resulted in a sack of quarterback Jayden Daniels. McLaurin grabbed his left knee in pain and his leg was placed in a large air cast. McLaurin hobbled onto a cart as players from both sides came over to pat him on the helmet before he was whisked away.
Jalen Hurts expected to miss season after blood clots discovered in QB’s lungs | ESPN
Hurts will undergo treatment involving blood thinners that is expected to sideline the three-time Pro Bowler for at least three months, sources informed of the diagnosis told Rapoport and Schefter.
Hurts’ agent, Nicole Lynn, and the Eagles released a statement Monday detailing Hurts’ condition. Lynn and the Eagles said Hurts has deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, meaning a blood clot traveled from his legs to his lungs.
49ers’ Mike Evans ruled out with Achilles injury after leaving game late in first half | CBS Sports
Head coach Kyle Shanahan noted this week that Evans was dealing with Achilles soreness. The wideout did not practice at all this week, which left his status for Week 6 firmly up in the air for a big NFC matchup.
Evans did not practice at all this week, with reports noting that he was mostly working off to the side.
The 33-year-old has a history of playing through injuries and has not missed a contest to this point despite missing time in practice. Last week, Evans missed Thursday’s practice with his rib injury, but ended up playing in the Week 5 win over Seattle. That said, this is the first time all season that Evans missed the entire week of practice.

5 things we learned from the Chiefs’ Week 6 victory over the Chargers
Over five games, Walker has 665 rushing yards and averages 6.2 yards per carry, with eight total touchdowns. For reference, the last time a non-quarterback won the NFL MVP was in 2012 when Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson won the award.
That season, Peterson rushed for 2,097 yards and 13 total touchdowns, averaging six yards per carry. Before Peterson won the award, you have to go back to 2006 to find the next season a non-quarterback won the MVP. Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson won that year. Interestingly, in 2005, Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander also won MVP.
