Brighton and Hove Albion delivered a dominant performance to beat Crystal Palace 5-0 in the Premier League, recording a commanding victory over their rivals.
The emphatic scoreline underlined Brighton’s attacking strength, with the Seagulls finding the net five times while keeping a clean sheet against Palace.
Brighton’s victory was powered by a devastating opening 10 minutes, during which they scored three goals to leave Crystal Palace facing an uphill battle almost immediately.
The hosts took the lead in the fourth minute when Crystal Palace defender Jaydee Canvot scored an own goal. Brighton capitalised on the early setback three minutes later, with Diego Gómez doubling their advantage through a spectacular strike from around 51 metres out.
Gómez’s long-range effort was one of the standout moments of the match, catching Palace out and further energising the home side. Yasin Ayari then made it 3-0 in the 10th minute, completing Brighton’s remarkable early scoring burst.

Palace struggled to recover from the early damage as Brighton maintained their attacking intensity and controlled the contest. The visitors found it difficult to contain the hosts, who continued to create opportunities and threaten their defence.
Brighton extended their lead shortly after the restart, with Charalampos Kostoulas scoring in the 49th minute to make it 4-0. The goal effectively ended any realistic hopes of a Palace comeback and underlined the home side’s superiority on the day.
Jack Hinshelwood completed the rout in the 84th minute, scoring Brighton’s fifth goal to seal an emphatic victory at the Amex Stadium.
The result marked a significant win for Brighton in the rivalry and equalled their biggest-ever victory over Crystal Palace, matching their 5-0 win in 1956. The Seagulls’ performance also continued an impressive spell of form, with their attack delivering goals from several different players.
For Crystal Palace, the heavy defeat was a damaging result after their European commitments, with their defence unable to cope with Brighton’s pace, movement and finishing.
Brighton will take confidence from the comprehensive win as they continue their Premier League campaign, while Palace will need to regroup and address the defensive weaknesses exposed in the derby.
