Dylan Peterson brought the heat to the ice.
The St. Louis Blues center, 24, started his NHL career with a bang on Tuesday, Oct. 13 after fighting with Ottawa Senators defenseman Jorian Donovan during his regular-season debut at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.
Peterson’s parents, Angela and Blaine, went viral for their reactions to their son’s brawl as they struggled to watch the fiery scene unfold. The Blues forward dropped the gloves for a third-period fight, which prompted his mom to lean back in her seat and grab her head with both hands.

“That’s our son!” she appeared to mouth to a nearby Senators fan in disbelief, alongside a rather unfazed Blaine.
After the Blues’ 7-2 win on Tuesday, Peterson told reporters he was looking forward to seeing his parents’ reaction to his rollercoaster debut.
“Unbelievable, I’m so happy they could make it,” Peterson said, according to The Athletic. “I can’t wait to see what their reaction was. But yeah, I’m super happy they got to come.”
A third-round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, Peterson logged 8:57 minutes of ice time in his debut.
“Really good first game in the NHL,” Blues coach Jim Montgomery said. “As a fourth-line right winger, he did exactly what you want a fourth-line right winger to do. He was heavy on pucks, he was relentless on pucks, he was physical.”

“He executed really well with and without the puck,” Montgomery added. “So overall, a really good game for him in his NHL debut.”
Peterson’s parents were interviewed after Tuesday’s win and were asked about the on-ice theatrics.
“I kind of went, ‘Oh my god, not another one. Oh gosh, what did he break now? Where is he bleeding?’ ” Peterson’s mom recalled.

Despite her motherly instincts, Angela confirmed her son “did a good job” overall. “He’s a great kid. Love him to death,” she said.
“We saw him come out of the dressing room without very many marks on his face,” dad Blaine added. “And he still has his teeth, so we’re good.”
Peterson’s parents said they flew in from Placencia, Belize, when they got the call that their son would make his NHL debut. After driving two-and-a-half hours to the Belize City airport, they flew to Houston, to Newark and to Ottawa for the game.
“I screamed. I cried,” Angela said, while Blaine added, “It was the highlight of our lives, to be honest.”
