President Donald Trump has said he is looking at "powerful legal options" to force the removal of the Alaska Senate candidate Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., claiming his name is causing confusion as the incumbent senator also up for election is named Dan S. Sullivan.
"I am very concerned about the Dan S. Sullivan Race for the U.S. Senate in Alaska in that it is totally confusing," the president wrote on Truth Social. He accused the Democrats of putting forward Sullivan Jr.
Sullivan Jr., a retired teacher, only registered as a Republican when he filed his candidacy in the Senate race, having been a member of the Alaska Independence Party until it dissolved late last year.
"It's ridiculous that the court didn't stop this SCAM. Even 1, 2, or 3% could make the difference," Trump said. "Dan S. Sullivan is leading by a lot, but this is CHEATING in an Election, and the Judge that allowed this to happen should be ashamed of himself."
He added: "We are looking at powerful legal options to remove the fraudulent Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. from the Ballot, and holding the Democrats accountable for their Election Interference, in the pursuit of Justice and Fairness."
The president did not clarify what the legal options would be.
