Author and activist Jackie Phamotse has raised eyebrows after reacting to footage of ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula collapsing live on camera. Her cryptic post suggested there is more to the story than what is being shared publicly.
Mbalula had just wrapped up an emotional address to media gathered outside the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg on 15 October 2026, following a significant legal win for the ANC. The ConCourt overturned an earlier Electoral Court ruling that had blocked 181 ANC candidates from appearing on the 4 November local government election ballot. With cameras rolling and a packed press scrum around him, Mbalula struggled to stay on his feet after speaking and had to be helped away from the media.
The moment was broadcast live by eNCA and quickly spread across social media.
Jackie's Cryptic Take
Phamotse, known for speaking her mind on public affairs, responded to eNCA's breaking news post with a pointed remark: "So, they are all sick? Well, pity they won't tell us the truth."
Her words appear to reference the fact that several senior ANC leaders have recently reported health concerns, with Phamotse seemingly questioning whether these incidents are fully transparent.
Netizens React to Mbalula's Collapse
The clip ignited strong reactions online, with opinions ranging from prayer to outright scepticism. Below are some of the responses:
@ngidi_thuli wrote: "We will continue praying for them."
@lucasmoagi12 was blunt: "If winning makes him collapse, what would have happened if they had lost? I shudder to think."
@Giles43235302 was not sympathetic: "Was fine to emotionally claim the victory but when asked about illegal immigrants he suddenly felt unwell and 'collapsed'!? What a lying doos."
@KatekaniNamane pointed to a pattern: "ANC President, Deputy President and SG they all Sick."
