The body of a man wrapped in a mattress was found in a ravine in Rodriguez, Rizal, on Saturday afternoon.
In a report by Oscar Oida on GMA News’ “24 Oras” on Monday, a barangay tanod said a scrap collector who was planning to look for recyclable materials noticed the mattress, with the victim’s feet visible from inside.
The victim’s face was reportedly covered with tape, his neck bore a slash wound, and his body was bound when his remains were found.
Authorities have yet to establish the victim’s identity. He was estimated to be between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall, with black hair and brown skin.
He was found without clothing, except for black shorts, and had a tattoo on his chest.
The body was brought to a funeral home for a postmortem examination and other procedures as part of the investigation.
Police are continuing to establish the victim’s identity and identify the suspect. —RF, GMA News
