Shoppers in South Australia are being urged to check their fridges after Tweedvale Dairies reduced fat milk was recalled over E. coli contamination concerns.
The affected product was sold in one-litre and two-litre bottles through independent retailers, including IGA stores, with a use-by date of October 21, 2026.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand has urged consumers not to drink the milk and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
In its recall notice, the agency warned: “Food products contaminated with microbial (E. coli) may cause illness if consumed.”

E. coli is a bacteria that can cause foodborne illness, with symptoms including stomach cramps, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and fever.
According to Healthdirect Australia, people may also feel weak, dehydrated and generally unwell.
SA Health notes some E. coli infections can become serious, particularly for young children and older people, and warns symptoms may take several days to appear.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand states pathogenic E. coli can spread through contaminated food or water, including when food comes into contact with animal faeces or unclean equipment during production or handling.
Anyone who has consumed the recalled milk and is concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
