The Serie A match between Como and Roma at the Stadio Sinigaglia on Sunday afternoon ended in a 0-0 draw: The first goalless stalemate in the Italian top flight in 2026-27, coming in the 54th fixture league of the season. This was the longest streak without a 0-0 at the start of a Serie A season in almost 80 years.
Serie A’s goalscoring streak comes to an end
The start of the 2026-27 Serie A season has been an entertaining one from a neutral perspective: The league has a surprise challenger in Lazio, level at the top of the table with reigning champions Inter. Cagliari have also stormed their way to the top four in the early stages of the season despite being tipped for a bottom-half finish by many at the start of the season.

But perhaps most entertaining is the fact that at least one goal had been scored for 53 consecutive Serie A matches at the start of the 2026-27 season: Sunday’s game between Como and Roma was the first 0-0 of the campaign and this is the longest streak without a shut-out since the start of the 1949-50 season, 77 years ago.
That streak came to an end when Milan and Lazio played out a 0-0 draw in San Siro. That happened in the seventh round of fixtures of that league season. The streak came to an end in the sixth round of fixtures in 2026-27.
