Former NFL defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko has called out the NFL and Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh over their handling of Jordan Elliott’s personal struggles following a reported gun incident at the team’s facility.

Fehoko condemned Elliott’s alleged actions but questioned why the team did not give him time away after Saleh said he had been dealing with personal matters. His comments have brought player mental health and team support into focus.

Breiden Fehoko calls the NFL “so fake” over Jordan Elliott and Robert Saleh

Fehoko shared his thoughts on X after Elliott was released by the Tennessee Titans on October 20. He argued that professional teams often speak about mental health but may fail to support players when they admit they are struggling.“If someone says they’ve been struggling with off the field personal matters for weeks, why not address it before it escalates?” Fehoko wrote on X.He also made it clear that he did not support Elliott’s reported behavior. However, he questioned why more was not done before the situation became serious.“Jordan Elliott is 100% wrong and should never play football again. My issue is (head coach) Robert Saleh said he was dealing with this for weeks & yet nobody thought ‘hey man, we should give this dude some time away so he can find some peace.’”

Fehoko then turned his criticism towards the league, saying players may fear losing their jobs if they tell their teams about personal or mental health struggles.“This is the NFL. They don’t care about your personal life or what you’re going through,” Fehoko wrote on X. “I’m not excusing Jordan Elliott’s actions, but I’ve said it multiple times. The NFL is so fake. Robert Saleh said Elliott had been struggling with off the field stuff.“Yet teams quickly post ChatGPT a*s statements saying ‘we are here for you and let’s protect mental health.’ It’s all a godd**n lie, and it took this guy finally boiling over and wanting to k*ll a teammate. The moment you get help in an organization and admit you’re struggling mentally, they’ll cut you. Players know this. F**k the NFL. This is a sad situation.”

Jordan Elliott’s reported gun incident leads to Titans release as NFL reviews the case

The controversy began after an incident at the Titans’ facility on October 15.

According to reports from A to Z Sports and KPRC, Elliott had an argument with offensive tackle J.C. Latham during practice. After being told to leave the field, Elliott reportedly went to the players’ parking area to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle.Reports said defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers helped calm the situation before it escalated further. No one was reported injured. The Metro Nashville Police Department told A to Z Sports that no report had been filed and that the team had not contacted the department about the incident. On October 16, Saleh told reporters that Elliott was dealing with personal matters, and the defensive tackle did not practice that day. He was also inactive for Tennessee’s 26-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on October 18.The Titans announced Elliott’s release on October 20, without sharing further details. The team said in its official statement, “Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster.

We will have no further comment on the matter.”The NFL is also reviewing the situation, according to NBC Sports’ ProFootballTalk. The league confirmed that the Titans had informed it about the matter.Fehoko’s criticism focuses on whether players can ask for help without fearing the loss of their careers. His comments do not excuse Elliott’s reported conduct, but they raise questions about how teams respond when players face personal problems.
