Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce had a much earlier wake-up call than expected, all because of Jason Kelce. The former Philadelphia Eagles player called his brother at 7:30 a.m. and, in a matter of seconds, went from worrying that something serious had happened to discovering a request that prompted an immediate reaction from Taylor.
The Kansas City Chiefs player himself recounted the scene during the October 21 episode of New Heights. "I got a call at 7:30 in the morning", explained Travis, who said he initially imagined the worst-case scenario and even wondered if he’d have to take Jason to the hospital. Not at all: his brother just wanted him to come downstairs to help him while he was lifting weights.
Taylor Swift’s reaction when Travis walked out of the room
Jason was staying with Travis and Taylor in Kansas City and had taken his workout routine very seriously. In fact, he was participating in “Squatober,” a workout challenge throughout October, and had even brought along two 25-pound weight plates so he could continue his sessions while traveling.
The problem arose when he needed someone to spot him during a bench press. Instead of waiting until a more reasonable hour, he picked up the phone and called Travis directly.

“Can you come help me?” was, in essence, the request the Chiefs player received. Travis agreed, but when he got out of bed, he got a much less enthusiastic response from Taylor: “This is messed up,” he recalled with a laugh on the podcast.
The situation seemed even more absurd to Travis because the call had initially set off all his alarm bells. At that hour, with Jason under the same roof, his first reaction was to think that something serious might have happened.
In the end, it all came down to his brother’s obsession with sticking to his workout routine. Jason had traveled to Kansas City to attend a New Heights event held near Arrowhead Stadium, ahead of the game between the Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers.
The story ended up becoming another one of those family moments that Travis and Jason often share on New Heights. This time, however, Taylor Swift ended up getting involved without even getting out of bed, and summed up what she thought of the Kelce brothers’ unexpected gym session in just four words.
