The £6 million summer signing from Paderborn was speaking after Celtic’s third consecutive defeat in the Europa League, after falling to a 2-1 home loss to Celta Vigo that left Celtic in the embarrassing position of being second bottom in the table.
Mika Baur was Celtic’s top performer against Celta Vigo
The 22 year old German international midfielder impressed once again, making his £6 million fee look like a bargain with each passing game, and scored the Celtic goal in the defeat to the mid-table La Liga side.
But he’s not been shy in admitting that he and his teammates have plenty to improve on in a bid to compete on the European stage, even at the second tier level.
Once again it was mightily evident that the Celtic players are under equipped for European football, despite being the dominant force in Scottish football, as young Mika was quick to point that out.
He said: “The focus is performing every three days in the league. That’s first and then performing in Europa League or international football as well.

“At the moment, maybe we are not capable to win these games.”
“At the moment, maybe we are not capable to win these games. But in two weeks, that’s the next one, against Besiktas, home again. Hopefully a good atmosphere. We need the points.
“But, absolutely disappointing. The first half was absolutely okay, it was an open game. Then we scored, then we had 10, 12, 15 minutes where we controlled it and dominated it, and then they scored, and at that moment the momentum switched completely and we were not capable to switch it again.
“We had no control. We made mistakes, they pushed us in our own half, around our box. It’s not getting easier now, but there’s still five games ahead. What else should we do then but believe?
“As I said, five games ahead and the chances are there. We need points.”
