Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Aditi Vijaya Lakshmi on Wednesday (October 21, 2026) said the combined strength of the NDA parties, the TDP, the Jana Sena Party (JSP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), would ensure a massive victory for the alliance in the Vizianagaram mayoral election. She expressed happiness over the peaceful completion of the seat-sharing agreement. Of the 62 divisions, the TDP got 48, the JSP 10 and the BJP four.
She thanked JSP Parliament coordinator Avanpu Vikram, JSP senior leader Palavalasa Yeshaswi and others for cooperating with the TDP in finalising the seat-sharing agreement. Speaking to the media, she said the TDP won the Vizianagaram seat with a majority of 60,000 votes in the 2024 elections. She expressed confidence that the TDP’s mayoral candidate, Avanapu Bhargavi, would get a huge majority in the ensuing election.

Ms. Bhargavi said her father-in-law, Avanapu Suribabu, had developed Vizianagaram city as municipal chairperson a decade ago. She promised to improve civic infrastructure in all 62 wards of the district headquarters.
Ms. Bhargavi’s husband and senior TDP leader Avanapu Vijay said the YSRCP had failed to develop the Fort City, although the party won 48 divisions in the previous local body elections held in 2019. He said Ms. Aditi’s development works in the last two years would help his wife win an absolute majority in the mayoral election.
