Last Friday, police announced that there were suspicions that the Division 2 match between Nacka FC and Syrianska could have been subject to attempts to influence the result, and that a match-fixing report had been filed.
The match, which was crucial to determining which team would remain in the division, was played as planned on Sunday, with both police and observers from the Swedish Football Association on site.
Nacka FC won 4–2 and will therefore remain in Division 2. Syrianska must go into a playoff.
Our assessment of the match when it was played is that it proceeded without manipulation. That’s really all I can say,” says Johan Claesson, integrity officer at the Swedish Football Association.
Claesson says staff from the association have watched the match on video several times since.
Police told TT that the investigation is still open. They would not comment on whether there is a suspect, citing the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation.
