Of the total celebrations, 971 will be held in urban areas and 2,076 in rural areas across the state’s eight districts.
West Tripura continues to lead the district-wise tally with 775 pujas, three more than last year’s 772. Sepahijala ranks second with 436 pujas, registering an increase of 25, followed by Khowai with 408, up from 397 in 2025.
Gomati has reported 363 pujas this year, down from 382 last year. South Tripura has recorded a significant rise, with the number increasing from 268 in 2025 to 305 in 2026. North Tripura has reported 271 pujas against 275 last year, while Dhalai has seen a decline from 272 to 268. Unakoti has registered 221 pujas, compared to 220 in the previous year.
As part of the security and public assistance arrangements, the police have set up 181 Police Assistance Booths across the state. West Tripura has the highest number of booths at 40, followed by Dhalai with 30 and Sepahijala with 27.
Khowai has 19 booths, while Unakoti and South Tripura have 18 each. North Tripura has 16, and Gomati has 13.
The figures show that the overall number of Durga Puja celebrations has increased despite declines in some districts. The establishment of assistance booths is aimed at facilitating public support and helping police manage the large gatherings expected at puja pandals during the festive season.
