Go For An Oil-Based Remover
Choose an oil-based eye makeup remover or cleansing balm formulated for waterproof makeup. It helps break down stubborn mascara so you can remove it with less rubbing.
Let It Sit
Saturate a cotton pad with eye makeup remover and hold it gently against closed lashes for 10 to 20 seconds. Give the formula time to dissolve the mascara before wiping.
Gently Wipe Downwards
After letting the remover work, glide the cotton pad downwards along your lashes without scrubbing back and forth. Use a fresh pad if mascara remains.
Try A Two-Phase Remover
For particularly stubborn formulas, use a bi-phase eye makeup remover that combines oil and water. Shake it well before use and check that it is suitable for your eyes.
Cleanse The Residue
Once the mascara is dissolved, use a gentle facial cleanser to remove leftover makeup and remover from your skin. Avoid getting cleanser into your eyes.
Skip The Tugging
Never pull at your lashes, scrape off mascara, or use tweezers to remove stubborn clumps. If residue remains, repeat the remover step gently rather than applying force.
