What the Ranking Reveals About Global Healthcare
Canada's Toronto General Hospital, operating under the University Health Network, secured second place, making it the highest-ranked institution outside the United States.
Stockholm's Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset came in at fourth, just ahead of the remaining two American entries: Massachusetts General Hospital in fifth and The Johns Hopkins Hospital in sixth.
Israel's Sheba Medical Center placed seventh, followed by Germany's Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin in eighth and Switzerland's Universitätsspital Zürich in ninth.
Singapore General Hospital rounded out the list in tenth position, standing as the sole Asian representative in the top ten.
Notably, no African hospital featured in the 2026 global top ten, a gap that highlights the continued disparity in healthcare infrastructure between the Global North and much of the African continent.
