Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday highlighted the expansion of the state's cybersecurity and forensic science infrastructure since 2017, saying emerging technologies must be linked to public welfare, access to justice and employment opportunities for young people.
In a post on X ahead of his participation in TechSangam 2026 at the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS) in Lucknow, the Chief Minister stressed the need to promote scientific research, modern technology and skilled human resources in cybersecurity and forensic science.
He said Uttar Pradesh had only two cyber police stations and four forensic laboratories before 2017. The state now has cyber police stations in all 75 districts, while efforts are underway to establish forensic laboratories in every division, he added.
According to Adityanath, the expansion of scientific investigation capabilities and technological infrastructure has strengthened the state's ability to tackle emerging challenges, including cybercrime, and improve the use of scientific evidence in criminal investigations.
The Chief Minister also said the conviction rate, which he described as below 30 per cent before 2017, had increased since then. However, he did not provide figures for the current conviction rate in his post.

The event will focus on emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, cyber forensics, quantum technology and data protection. It aims to bring together scientists, technical experts, policymakers, legal professionals and industry representatives from India and abroad.
Adityanath said discussions on cybersecurity, the reliability of digital evidence and the responsible use of emerging technologies could strengthen collaboration between research institutions, educational establishments and industry.
He described TechSangam 2026 as an opportunity to connect technological innovation with citizen safety, a more effective justice system and greater digital trust.
TECHNOLOGY PUSH TO CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH
Adityanath said advances in forensic science and cybersecurity could open up opportunities for young people in higher education, research and employment.
He stressed that the benefits of emerging technologies must extend beyond innovation to make citizens' lives safer and more convenient, while strengthening the justice system.
The Chief Minister also described the event as a reflection of Uttar Pradesh's changing work culture, linking the state's technological expansion with the broader goals of self-reliance and the vision of a developed India.
He said the collaboration between scientists, policymakers, academia and industry could help India become more self-reliant in emerging technologies and contribute to the government's Viksit Bharat vision through Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
