Despite a strong 6-1 start to the season, USC head coach Lincoln Riley is still on the hot seat. Expectations remain sky-high for his Trojans, and he might need to lead them to College Football Playoff berth to silence doubts about him.
A win over the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday would go a long way toward making that goal a reality. However, the Trojans found themselves down 10-7 to the Badgers at halftime as starting quarterback Jayden Maiava struggled.
Former USC star and current Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was there to watch the game, and he was seen talking to the young quarterback as he warmed up during halftime.

Caleb Williams transferred to USC from Oklahoma in 2022 and had a fantastic season for the Trojans that year. He led them to an 11-2 record and won the Heisman Trophy. He has since gone on to star in the NFL with the Bears and has had his No. 13 jersey retired by USC. Any piece of advice he could give Maiava would be useful information for the young quarterback, especially after his struggles in the first half.
Maiava came into the Wisconsin game with just three interceptions in his first seven games this season. However, he threw two in just the first quarter against Wisconsin. Luckily for USC, those turnovers resulted in just three points as Wisconsin went 1-of-2 on field goals.
But in the second quarter, Maiava then found freshman tight end Taniela Tupou for a touchdown to give the Trojans the 7-3 lead. Wisconsin hit back with a touchdown of their own to take a 10-7 lead into halftime.
