Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia called for stronger business partnerships with the Netherlands, emphasizing the two countries’ complementary strengths could help Indonesia expand its role in global supply chains.
"Indonesia wants to actively participate in the global value chain, develop value-added products, strengthen industrial capability, and build long-term relations with international buyers and businesses," Indonesia's Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti said during the Dutch-Indonesia Business Forum at the 2026 Trade Expo Indonesia on Thursday (Oct 15).
As presented in her written remarks on Friday, Esti highlighted Indonesia's strong production capability, diverse manufacturing sectors, abundant natural resources, and innovative business growth.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands has advantages in logistics, distribution, technology, and international business networks that can support Indonesia's business expansion to European markets.

The deputy minister said decades-long economic engagement between Indonesia and the Netherlands is becoming a strong foundation to expand partnership.
Hence, the two countries should optimize their converging interests and complementary strengths to concretely collaborate to create greater competition capability and economic value.
In one hand, Esti said Indonesia and the Netherlands should strengthen partnerships in supply, productivity, technology, innovation, and market development capabilities. The collaboration should also help Indonesian businesses strengthen production capability.

On the other hand, she reminded Indonesian businesses to elevate their capacity to fulfill international demands, including by strengthening quality standards and supply consistency and building long-term cooperation with foreign partners.
"Indonesia and the Netherlands should also explore collaboration potentials in supply development, productivity, traceability, and technology implementation to help businesses become more competitive," she added.
As global business actors seek to diversify their sources to new partners they can rely on and adapt to, she said Indonesia and the Netherlands, with their respective strengths, should optimize the opportunity.
