PETALING JAYA: National badminton professional Lee Zii Jia has applied to the High Court to restrict his father and sister from making certain financial and management decisions at LZJ Management amid an ongoing dispute over the company’s governance.
The interim injunction application, filed on July 2, seeks to prevent the two directors, Lee Chee Hin and Lee Zii Yii, from approving directors’ fees, allowances, bonuses or other financial benefits for themselves beyond their monthly salaries.
The application is being contested by the respondents, who oppose the requested court intervention. It is unclear whether the court has made a decision on the application.

Besides his father and sister, Zii Jia has named his younger brother, Lee Tao, and LZJ Management as respondents in the suit.
He is also seeking to restrict decisions involving the appointment or removal of directors, the appointment of a company secretary, the disposal of major assets, the issuance of new shares and changes to the company’s shareholding structure without the court’s approval.
According to the application, Zii Jia owns a 90% stake in the company, while Zii Yii holds 9% and Lee Tao owns the remaining 1%.
Separately, Zii Jia is seeking a court order to convene an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to address matters concerning the company’s management and governance.
In his supporting affidavit, he said an attempt to hold an EGM on Dec 22 last year was unsuccessful because the meeting lacked a quorum.
He is asking for the meeting to be held within 14 days of the court order, or within another timeframe determined by the court. He has also sought permission to issue and serve the meeting notice and appoint an independent chairman to preside over the proceedings.
In a reply affidavit filed on Aug 6, Chee Hin challenged the need for court intervention, maintaining that the company continued to handle matters related to his son’s professional badminton career.
