Juventus were unable to secure another victory after facing Rennes in the Europa League last night, leaving the Bianconeri with several aspects of their game to improve as they look to return to winning ways.
Juve produced a much stronger performance in the second half and came close to snatching victory in the closing minutes. They thought they had scored a decisive goal, but it was ruled out for offside following a review, forcing Juventus to settle for a draw.
The Bianconeri have struggled to establish themselves among the leading clubs in Italy, with their domestic form remaining inconsistent. Despite their difficulties, their European performances have attracted attention, although they still need to turn their efforts into better results.
Against Rennes, Juventus worked hard and showed determination, but they could not find the winning goal before the final whistle. Their improved performance after the interval offered some encouragement, yet their inability to maintain that level throughout the match remains a concern.
Juventus must address their slow starts
One of the recurring problems for Juventus in recent matches has been their tendency to improve only after half-time. Against Rennes, they allowed their opponents to dominate possession for a significant period, forcing Juve to spend too much time chasing the ball.
Although Juventus eventually responded with greater intensity, their slow start made securing all three points more difficult. The team must learn to impose itself earlier in matches instead of relying on second-half improvements to rescue results.
Former Juventus player Giancarlo Marocchi watched the match and assessed the team’s performance, identifying both positive aspects and areas that require attention. According to Tuttomercatoweb, he said:
“If the reference is to the last match, then everything was fine. Overall, I saw a solid team, with everyone in their place. On the negative side, I saw a half-hour in which Rennes kept the ball and let the Juventus players run after them, and that was unpleasant to see. But then there was also a reaction.”

Juventus need greater consistency
Marocchi’s assessment recognises the team’s response while highlighting the difficulties they experienced when Rennes controlled possession. Juventus showed they could react under pressure, but they need to demonstrate the same determination from the opening whistle.
Improving their consistency and controlling matches more effectively will be essential if the Bianconeri want to return to winning ways. Their second-half display against Rennes offers some encouragement, but they must turn those positive spells into victories rather than allowing promising performances to end in disappointing draws.
