Franklin Templeton plans to launch two exchange-traded funds that put 95% of their assets in US stocks and 5% in Bitcoin. One is built around S&P 500 exposure. The other targets the Nasdaq 100.
The asset manager filed a Form 8-A with the SEC on October 22, 2026. That filing typically signals a listing is close.
The two products are the Franklin US Equity Bitcoin DRIP Index ETF, ticker FBEQ, and the Franklin US Innovation Bitcoin DRIP Index ETF, ticker FIBT. Both will list on Nasdaq.
The effective date is projected for October 27, 2026. Trading is positioned to begin after that.
Under the hood, FBEQ tracks the VettaFi US Large-Cap 500 Bitcoin DRIP Index. FIBT follows the VettaFi US Innovation 100 Bitcoin DRIP Index.
“DRIP” refers to dividend reinvestment. Normally, an investor collects stock dividends and rolls them back into more shares. These funds route those payouts into Bitcoin instead.
The funds will not hold Bitcoin directly. They will get their exposure through exchange-traded products, including Franklin’s existing spot Bitcoin ETF, EZBC.
The rebalancing rules
The 5% Bitcoin allocation is a starting point, not a fixed ceiling. The Bitcoin weight can drift above 5% between rebalances, whether from dividend inflows or price gains.
Every quarter, the index trims the Bitcoin position back down to 4.5%. There is also a hard cap of 20% on Bitcoin’s weight.
On cost, the research shows expense ratios reported as low as 0.09%.
Background: Franklin’s growing Bitcoin shelf
These funds build on infrastructure Franklin already has. Its spot Bitcoin ETF, EZBC, has drawn approximately $335 million in net inflows.
EZBC now gets a second job as the Bitcoin engine inside these new equity funds.
What this means
FIBT deserves a closer look on one front. Growth-oriented, tech-heavy companies often pay smaller dividends than broad large-cap names, so the Bitcoin accumulation engine may run slower there than in FBEQ.
The quarterly trim cuts the other way. When Bitcoin outperforms, the index sells some of it back down to 4.5%, so these funds will not be pure buy-and-hold vehicles for the asset.
The launch timeline puts the answer in the hands of the market fairly soon after October 27, 2026.
