The Daily Trust Foundation, the non-profit arm of Media Trust Group, is set to launch a journalism academy and a free digital learning platform to boost professional development among journalists in Nigeria.
The academy, known as the DTF Journalism Academy, will be launched at 12 noon on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the premises of Media Trust Group in Abuja.
The initiative is aimed at providing journalists with access to continuous training through seminars, workshops, conferences, webinars and other capacity-building programmes.
Foundation’s Programme Director, Dr Theophilus Abbah, said the academy will collaborate with local and international organisations to equip journalists with the skills and knowledge needed to adapt to changes in the media industry.
“The DTF Journalism Academy is designed to organise seminars, workshops, conferences, webinars and other capacity-building programmes, through partnership and collaboration with diverse local and international organisations,” Abbah said.
“Our goal is to provide journalists with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving media environment.”
The Foundation will also unveil a free digital learning platform developed in partnership with Bayero University, Kano. The platform will offer courses in media and communication to support journalists’ professional growth.
The launch will feature the Africa Director of the MacArthur Foundation, Dr Kole Shettima, as the Guest of Honour, while the Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times and President of the International Press Institute, Nigerian Chapter, Musikiliu Mojeed, will deliver the keynote address.
Representatives of various media and journalism organisations are also expected to attend the event.
