President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump voted early in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, ten days before the midterm elections. Asked whether he voted a straight Republican ticket, Trump replied “Very much so,” according to Newsweek.
The vote comes as Democrats lead in national polling and betting markets for the House. Our US midterms 2026 dossier tracks the race to November 3.
In plain English
Midterms are national elections held halfway through a president’s four-year term. On November 3, Americans decide control of Congress: all 435 House seats and 35 of 100 Senate seats.
Trump Votes Early in Florida
The Trumps cast their ballots at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office in West Palm Beach, according to Newsweek. Trump then travelled to Georgia for a rally in Perry, which was moved there from Macon, with remarks at 7 p.m. ET.
Early voting is already under way in many states. Our report on the 20 million early ballots counted so far gives the wider picture.
Where the Race Stands
A New York Times/Siena poll of likely voters, released October 21, found Democratic House candidates ahead 52% to 41%. The same poll put President Trump’s approval at 36% among likely voters.
Polls are snapshots, not forecasts, and the Senate map is harder for Democrats than the House map. Republicans start with a 53 to 47 Senate majority.
What Prediction Markets Say
- House: Polymarket priced a Democratic win at 92%, with about US$21.3 million traded.
- Senate: Polymarket priced Democratic control at 67%, with about US$9.0 million traded.
These prices are real-money bets, not polls, and they can move quickly. Kalshi, a market regulated in the US by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), also lists House contracts.
Why we show this: prediction markets turn real-money bets into a live probability that moves within minutes of the news, which is why investors, campaigns and newsrooms in the United States now follow them closely. We show them next to polls and official results, never instead of them.
What It Means for US Readers
With the final week and a half of campaigning ahead, the president’s own vote underlines how much he is staking on turnout. For readers watching tariffs, sanctions or migration policy, a Democratic House would give opposition leaders control of investigations and the federal budget process.
What Is Not Known
It is not known whether Democrats will turn their polling lead into a House majority, or whether they can win the Senate. Betting prices can shift before November 3 and are not evidence that either party has won.
