Portugal dominates opening half
Portugal took control of the match early on and opened the scoring after two minutes, thanks to an individual effort by José Miranda, who beat the Swiss opposition and goalkeeper Guillaume Oberson.
The Portuguese team maintained the offensive pressure, but only extended their lead in the 15th minute with a shot from Carlos Ramos. Rafael Bessa scored the third in the 22nd minute, taking advantage of a pass from Miguel Rocha to finish from a tight angle.
João Rodrigues also hit the crossbar in the final play of the first half, which ended with a three-goal lead for Portugal against a Swiss side struggling to counter their opponents' ball circulation and movements.
