Cape Coast Mayor in the Central Region, George Justice Arthur, says the assembly is seeking to position the historic city as a global tourism destination through increased investment in hospitality, cultural enterprises and digital tourism services.
He said Cape Coast’s rich heritage, including Cape Coast Castle, traditional festivals and cultural institutions, provides opportunities to attract visitors and investors.
Speaking at the opening of the sixth Inter Tourism Expo Accra (iNTTA) in Cape Coast on Wednesday, October 21, Mr Arthur urged investors to explore opportunities in boutique hotels, restaurants, conference facilities, guided tours, food processing and digital tourism platforms.
“Cape Coast must offer more than a place to visit. It must offer an experience worth remembering, recommending and returning to,” he said.
He said the assembly was working with traditional authorities and private-sector players to protect cultural assets, improve the visitor experience and ensure local communities benefit from tourism.
The three-day expo, running until October 23, is bringing together investors, policymakers and tourism professionals to explore opportunities in tourism, trade, agribusiness and digital innovation.
