Alex Scott transfer latest as Liverpool weigh Bournemouth’s huge valuation
Liverpool’s interest in Alex Scott is genuine, ongoing and easy to understand. The Bournemouth midfielder has started the season in a way that has only strengthened his standing across the market, and there is now a growing sense that his future will become one of the major stories of the coming windows.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Bournemouth have held discussions with the player’s camp and there is an expectation that movement will come. The key line from the update is clear, “For sure Scott will leave Bournemouth in 2027, there are movements.” That frames the situation neatly. Interest is building, the market is active, and top clubs are positioning themselves.
Liverpool interest in Alex Scott remains strong
Liverpool’s need for midfield quality gives this story obvious weight. Alex Scott fits the profile of a dynamic Premier League-ready option, and his connection with Andoni Iraola adds another layer to the equation after their previous work together at Bournemouth. Familiarity can matter in deals like this, particularly when a player is being asked to take a significant next step.
Chelsea are still viewed as prominent contenders, which is no surprise given their long-running admiration. Liverpool, though, are firmly in the conversation and would likely be seen by many as an attractive destination if they decide to push.
Bournemouth valuation could shape transfer outcome
The issue is the price. Bournemouth are understood to want more than £100 million, a figure that naturally changes the tone of any discussion. Liverpool have shown they will spend when convinced, but every elite recruitment team has a point at which value becomes the central debate.
That is where this one becomes particularly interesting. Scott’s talent is not in doubt, his trajectory is rising, and his England recognition has only added to the momentum. Whether Liverpool choose to meet Bournemouth’s demands, or attempt to structure a package that works more favourably, may decide if this becomes a serious pursuit or simply a monitored opportunity.
For now, the message is straightforward. Alex Scott is expected to move, Liverpool are interested, and Bournemouth hold firm on a premium valuation.
Our View
This feels like one to take seriously, even if the numbers immediately make supporters wince. Alex Scott looks like a player ready for the next level, and there is a lot to like about the idea of him working again under Andoni Iraola. That existing understanding could shorten the adjustment period and give Liverpool a midfielder capable of fitting the coach’s demands quickly.
The hesitation is obvious. Paying more than £100 million for any midfielder has to come with near total certainty. Liverpool cannot throw that sort of fee around casually, even for a player with Premier League experience, England recognition and room to improve further. Bournemouth know exactly what they have, and they are using that leverage.
Still, this is where ambition has to show. If Liverpool believe Scott can become a long-term central figure in the side, they should not drift and allow Chelsea a clear path. The smartest outcome would be decisive talks, a well-built package, and a move made before the race becomes even more expensive. If Iraola truly wants him, that should carry real weight inside the club.
