PPC blue Romania and retail park developer Cometex signed an agreement to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure nationwide. More than 300 charging points are planned at selected Altex and Bricostore locations and across Cometex’s network of 19 retail parks.
Twenty charging points have already been installed in Giurgiu, Slatina, Bucharest, Câmpina, Mediaș, and Huși. Another 16 are due to be completed in Târgu Neamț and Pantelimon, according to PPC blue.
The existing network includes a hub with eight charging points and 450 kW of installed capacity at Aurora Retail Park in Giurgiu. Other sites currently provide between 50 kW and 100 kW of charging capacity.
“Electric mobility is taking shape through solid partnerships, well-targeted investments, and solutions that are easily accessible to users,” stated Andreea-Dana Popescu, general manager of PPC blue Romania.
She said the company was focusing on integrating charging stations into frequently visited locations such as retail parks and shopping centers, including cities where it does not yet operate.
PPC blue will also gradually take over the charging network developed by Cometex, adding more than 87 points to its own infrastructure. The companies said the transition would be carried out while maintaining service availability for retail park customers.
“Car parks are no longer just spaces for vehicles; they are becoming infrastructure that supports these new habits,” said Cometex general manager Adrian Urdă.
Cometex, part of the Altex group, operates 19 retail parks in 18 Romanian cities. Its portfolio includes locations in Bacău, Brașov, Caracal, Dej, Deva, Drobeta Turnu-Severin, Giurgiu, Huși, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Slatina, Satu Mare, and Vatra Dornei.
PPC blue currently operates more than 1,400 charging points across every Romanian county, with combined installed capacity exceeding 46 MW. Its stations are located at shopping centers, supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, and public sites.
