The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of seeking the support of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s loyalists ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party’s spokesperson in Rivers State, Chizy Enyi, made the allegation in a video shared on his official Facebook page on Monday.
Enyi questioned why Wike was reportedly meeting with Fubara to seek the support of his loyalists despite allegedly declaring that the forthcoming election had already been won.
He also accused the minister of undermining the development of Rivers State through his prolonged political disagreement with the governor.
According to Enyi, Wike’s reported efforts to secure support from Fubara’s camp contradict his earlier expression of confidence about the election.
The ADC spokesperson also criticised the reported cancellation of a Rivers State government scholarship programme for medical students at Pamo University, questioning the circumstances surrounding the decision.
He further alleged that the political dispute between Wike and Fubara had affected the performance of members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Enyi said some lawmakers had attributed their inability to perform effectively to the ongoing disagreement between the two political figures.
Meanwhile, Wike and key stakeholders of the Rainbow Coalition have reportedly met with Fubara twice at the governor’s private residence in Port Harcourt.
