Badminton star An Se-young (24, Samsung Life Insurance) won the French Open to claim her 10th title of the season. The victory gave her a third straight French Open crown and extended her winning streak to 50 matches.
An, the world No. 1 in women's singles, beat No. 11 Pusarla Sindhu of India 2-1 (16-21, 21-11, 21-12) in the women's singles final of the 2026 Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour French Open (Super 750) in Paris on the 25th, Korea time.
The opening stretch was difficult. An struggled against Sindhu's attacks and dropped the first game 16-21. From the middle of the second game, however, she sharpened her attacking accuracy, strung together points and leveled the match at 21-11.
She also trailed 5-8 early in the deciding game before turning the momentum with a run of points and stretching her lead with steady play. She closed out the match 21-12 to complete the comeback.
An has now won the French Open three years in a row, following her 2024 and 2025 titles. Including her 2019 win, it is her fourth career title at the tournament. She also holds an 11-0 record against Sindhu.
After the world championships, the China Masters, the Asian Games and the Denmark Open, the French Open title extended her winning run to five consecutive tournaments. Her record this season stands at 66 wins and one loss, a 98.5% win rate. Her career total of women's singles titles on the international circuit rose to 48, breaking her own all-time record.
An, who has completed her two-tournament European swing, is scheduled to return home through Incheon International Airport on the morning of the 27th.
