Colombo, Oct. 13 (Daily Mirror) - Chairman of Nawalapitiya Urban Council Amal Priyankara (Independent), his son and a relative were arrested yesterday in connection with the alleged assault on a motorcyclist involved in an accident in front of the UC Chairman’s house.
The Asst. Superintendent of Imbulpitiya Estate in Nawalapitiya, who was also involved in the incident, was arrested.
The four suspects were produced before the Nawalapitiya Magistrate and released on personal bail in Rs.100,000 each.
Police said the altercation between the two parties that resulted in the alleged assault had been shared on social media and that it led to the arrest of the suspects.
The case was postponed to October 26.
