Aaron Glenn understood something went wrong for the New York Jets as they fell short in their 26-19 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon.
Glenn is going through the second season of his head coaching career with the Jets. Following a tough 2025 campaign where he finished 3-14, he looks to significantly improve in Year 2.
2026 has seen progress from New York, getting two wins in its first six games. They almost pulled off a rally against New England, but they came up short in their pursuit of win No. 3. Glenn reflected on the loss after the game, noting that execution on both sides of the ball cost them throughout the matchup.

“What it came down to is our ability to finish, and our detail when it comes to defensive football. So finishing on offense and detailing on defense is something we’ve got to get better at,” Glenn said.

How Aaron Glenn, Jets performed against Patriots
Aaron Glenn and the Jets are making slight progress in their second year together. However, they still need time to develop and pull off upsets against playoff contenders.
New York struggled for the entire first half, only scoring a field goal throughout the first 30 minutes as New England overwhelmed them 17-3. They tried to fight back with 16 points in the second half, but they were unable to ignite an offensive spark to pull off a comeback.
Geno Smith had a decent performance leading New York’s offense. He completed 20 out of 30 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown and an interception.
Braelon Allen led the rushing attack with 17 carries for 78 yards while catching two passes for 26 yards. Omar Cooper Jr. led receivers with six catches for 103 yards and a touchdown, while Garrett Wilson caught four passes for 44 yards.
The Jets will look to bounce back in their next matchup, being at home. They host the Miami Dolphins in Week 7 as kickoff commences on Oct. 25 at 1 p.m. ET.
