British pop star Charli XCX is slated for a cameo in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film, What Happens at Night, rounding out a star-studded cast featuring Oscar winners Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence.
According to Variety, the film, described as a Gothic psychological drama, is being produced by Apple Studios and StudioCanal.
The plot centres on an American couple who travel to a small European town to adopt a baby, only to face an identity crisis as they struggle to bring the child home.
Charli’s role in the film is being kept under wraps. The cast also includes Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson and Jared Harris.
This film serves as Scorsese’s next project following his 2023 historical crime drama, Killers of the Flower Moon, which reunited him with DiCaprio and earned 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
Born Charlotte Emma Aitchison, Charli gained global fame with hits like Boom Clap and Fancy, before achieving widespread acclaim with her 2024 album Brat, which secured three Grammy Awards in 2025.
Her recent screen credits include The Moment, a mockumentary directed by frequent collaborator Aidan Zamiri that satirises the commercial success of Brat and the cultural wave surrounding it.
The singer has further bridged the gap between music and cinema with her latest album, Music, Fashion, Film. Its cover features Martin Scorsese, musician John Cale, and fashion designer Marc Jacobs, with each figure embodying one of the artistic disciplines highlighted in the title.
Charli’s filmography includes projects such as Erupcja and The Gallerist, alongside other acting roles.
