The NFL announced a fine of $21,623 for Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Jordan Battle for unnecessary roughness (use of the helmet) during the Bengals' Week 5 win in Miami.
Of the fines levied by the league for Week 5, only the Raiders' Maxx Crosby was fined more than Battle. Crosby's fine was $23,882, also for unnecessary roughness (use of the helmet).
Battle wasn't penalized during the game for colliding with the Dolphins' Malik Washington and pushing him out of bounds with 13:25 left in the first quarter, after Washington's 18-yard gain.
Bengals tight end Erick All Jr. was fined $7,073 for unnecessary roughness (use of the helmet) for a play later in the first quarter. All also drew a 15-yard penalty.
Earlier in the week, Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase won appeals of fines for his "people's elbow" celebration. Two fines of $14,926 each for obscene gestures were rescinded from the team's NFL Week 2 win against the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium.
Chase was in concussion protocol ahead of the Miami game. After a four-yard catch from Burrow against Jacksonville, Chase had his facemask grabbed by Jags defensive back Jarrian Jones. Chase went to the ground and took a big hit from linebacker Ventrell Miller.
Jones drew a 15-yard penalty. Miller was not penalized, and wasn't fined by the league.
CBS analyst Robert Turbin said he couldn't believe Miller didn't draw a flag.
