Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero delivered more than a crucial home run on Monday night, paying tribute to former teammate Randy Arozarena during Game 6 of the American League Championship Series.
The 23-year-old blasted a two-run homer off Cleveland Guardians reliever Cade Smith in the seventh inning at Tropicana Field. The shot struck the left-field foul pole, extending Tampa Bay’s lead to 5-1.
However, Caminero’s celebration provided another memorable moment as the Rays closed in on their first World Series appearance since 2020.

The moment connected two generations of Rays postseason stars during Tampa Bay’s eventual 7-3 victory over the Guardians.
Arozarena, now with the Seattle Mariners, helped lead the Rays to the 2020 World Series. His postseason performance that year established him as one of the franchise’s most recognizable playoff figures.
Meanwhile, Caminero entered the postseason following a 42-home-run regular season. His seventh-inning blast marked his first career playoff homer and provided valuable insurance in the decisive contest.
Arozarena attended Monday’s game alongside former Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow, another member of Tampa Bay’s 2020 pennant-winning team.
The Rays ultimately completed a 4-2 ALCS victory, advancing to their third World Series in franchise history.
Tampa Bay now turns its attention to the Milwaukee Brewers, with Game 1 scheduled for Friday at American Family Field. Both franchises are pursuing their first World Series championship, setting up a historic matchup that will guarantee a first-time champion.
