Google is making Chrome safer with its upcoming Chrome update, which will provide users with an alert about suspicious websites. Once the update goes live, Chrome will show a warning when a website displays signs that are commonly linked to phishing, malware, or online scams. Apparently, these websites may look innocent, but once opened, they can trick users into sharing sensitive personal information.
The US tech giant is introducing two types of warnings: Suspicious and Dangerous. The former websites are harmful, but the risks are still less certain. In these cases, users can open the website after the pop-up appears and mark the website as safe. However, if a website is marked as Dangerous, the tech giant will keep showing a full-page red warning. This alert signals higher risk, and users are advised not to visit the site.
The company is also expanding Gemini AI’s capabilities. Now the AI tool will be able to detect scams. The AI tool will now work efficiently to identify scams like fake antivirus alerts and fraudulent browser update messages.
However, none of these are Chrome's default features. So, users have to enable them to get these advanced security features. To do that, open Chrome’s Settings, select Privacy and security, and click Security. Choose Enhanced Protection to turn it on. This setting adds extra checks for phishing, malware, and other online risks.

What This Means for Chrome Users
The new tool is expected to offer Chrome users a way to stay safe online. However, users should note that no feature can detect every scam accurately. Users must be cautious about website addresses, avoid unknown downloads, and never run commands from untrusted sources.
Google's latest update aims to make online threats easier to spot. Enhanced Protection can help users avoid risky pages, but careful browsing remains just as important.
