The survey, carried out in October 2026, drew on retailer listings across the Kenyan market and cross-checked specifications against manufacturer data and other mobile phone databases.
Indicative prices span a wide range, from KSh 18,000 for the Infinix Hot 70 up to KSh 62,000 for the Poco F7 Pro.
Understanding phone battery performance
John Maina, a technician and phone dealer, explained to TUKO.co.ke that smartphone battery performance can be assessed using milliampere-hours (mAh), watt-hours (Wh) and charging power measured in watts (W).
"The mAh rating will show you how much electric charge a battery can hold. The Wh estimates the battery's total stored energy by accounting for voltage, which makes it a more complete measure for comparing batteries. The charging wattage tells you how quickly a phone can recharge with a compatible charger and cable. But the thing to know is that higher wattage does not mean greater battery capacity, because charging speed also depends on temperature, battery level and the phone’s charging system," he said.
He also cautioned that real-world battery life also depends on factors such as screen brightness, processor efficiency and usage habits, and also advised buyers to verify regional specifications for the phones because some phone models sold in Kenya may have different battery capacities from versions available in other markets.
Ranking most powerful phone batteries
The three battery-related columns in the table measure different things, and understanding the distinction helps buyers compare phones more accurately than looking at one number alone.

Smartphones with the best cameras and their prices
In other news on TUKO.co.ke, an October 2026 survey of major Kenyan retailers ranked 20 smartphones with the highest main-camera megapixel counts.
Five models featured 200MP sensors, led by the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, priced at approximately KSh 170,000 to KSh 190,000.
The Xiaomi 12T Pro offered a more affordable 200MP camera option at KSh 35,000 to KSh 45,000, while the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra and Infinix Zero Ultra were priced between KSh 45,000 and KSh 55,000.
Other models in the ranking featured 108MP and 50MP main cameras, with prices ranging from about KSh 30,000 for some Xiaomi and Realme models to more than KSh 180,000 for premium devices.
A technician cautioned buyers against judging camera quality by megapixel count alone, explaining that sensor size, aperture, optical image stabilisation and image-processing software also influence photo quality, particularly in low-light conditions.
