Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued a kidnap victim and neutralised three suspected kidnappers during a security operation in Sasaro Forest, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State.
The operation, which took place at on Sunday, followed intelligence received by security personnel, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Makama disclosed the development in posts on X, citing security sources who said the mission was carried out by troops of the 195 Battalion (Reconnaissance) in collaboration with other security agencies.
The rescued victim was identified as Prince Michael Akao.
During the operation, the troops reportedly recovered three locally made firearms, nine cartridges and other items suspected to be linked to the activities of the alleged kidnappers.

Following his rescue, Akao was evacuated to a hospital for medical attention.
According to Makama, the victim was responding well to treatment at the time of the report.
The recovered weapons and other items were handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further action, while the bodies of the three suspects were taken into the custody of the Nigeria Police Force.
