Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe is leading an official Sri Lankan delegation in London for a two day promotional programme on October 21 and 22, 2026, aimed at showcasing the upcoming ‘Sri Lanka Expo 2027’ and attracting British business leaders.
Organized by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) in collaboration with the High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom, the initiative features a business and investment forum and networking session on October 21, followed by bilateral business to business meetings on October 22.
The delegation includes the Secretary to the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board and the Executive Director of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
The campaign seeks to position Sri Lanka as a reliable and competitive trade and investment partner in the UK market, promote local products and services and encourage UK companies to explore sourcing, investments, and partnerships. Additionally, the programme aims to maximize preferential market access under the UK Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS) and drive strong British participation for the ‘Sri Lanka Expo 2027’ exhibition, which will be held in Sri Lanka from January 14 to 17, 2027.
