NamPower has apologised to customers after a midnight power blackout plunged parts of central, coastal and southern Namibia into darkness on Thursday.
The outage, which struck at 01h31, was caused by a fault on the 400kV system at Kokerboom substation in the ||Kharas region, the power utility said in a statement issued on Thursday.
Power was restored across the affected network at 01h49, bringing the partial blackout to an end after 18 minutes.
NamPower spokesperson Tangeni Kambangula said the utility regretted the inconvenience caused to residents and the public.
“NamPower apologises to the residents of the affected areas and the public in general, for any inconvenience that the outage has caused,” Kambangula said.
