Samthing Soweto has broken his silence on the criticism swirling around him, addressing the public chatter in a candid video that has since caught the attention of fans and commentators alike.
Filmed inside a parked car with no captions or on-screen text, the selfie-style clip carries a reflective, unfiltered tone as the South African artist speaks directly to his audience about what it feels like to be on the receiving end of public opinion.
Samthin Soweto addresses the critics
In the video, Samthin Soweto acknowledged that people are within their rights to voice opinions about him, but made it clear that the commentary has not gone unnoticed. "Hearing some of the things that they say about me and some half stories is not, it's not nice to be honest," he said, keeping his composure throughout.
Rather than hitting back, he chose a measured route, framing his response as encouragement for his audience. He went on to say that he is aware of what is being said and hinted at his reasons for engaging with certain platforms, though he did not elaborate fully in the clip. He added:
"We live in a time where having an opinion is very lucrative, and people want to butter their bread, so it's okay."
The video surfaced on X on 16 October 2026, shared by @mizz_knievil with the caption:

"You need to change the way u do business. Ur peers are passing you by the side of the road. We want music, not motivational talks. U could have made 500k by now and then go back to ur drama queen tendencies. Us, as your fans, would have loved to see you on that stage."
@bab_hlabisa kept things simple, responding with a string of wide-eyed emojis, seemingly at a loss for words.
